Using wollastonite nanomaterials in gypsum-wood composites

چکیده

In this study, the effect of wollastonite on mechanical, physical, and morphological properties composites made sesame stem (Sesamum indicum L.) gypsum was investigated. The mixing ratio as a lignocellulosic material with at three levels (10:90, 20:80, 30:70) (0%, 5%, 10%, based dry weight cement) were considered variables. Fire resistance (weight loss) tested according to ISO 11925-3 DIN EN 634-1 two specifications for mechanical physical properties. Microstructural evaluated by scanning electron microscopic (SEM) imaging. results showed that boards containing increased compared board without wollastonite. modulus rupture, elasticity, internal bonding decreased content, its maximum value obtained when using 10% stem. addition is recommended significantly improve fire retardancy boards. from SEM images can fill in gaps inside create solid structure.

Gypsum Composites with CDW as Raw Material

Abstract—In this study, the feasibility of incorporating ceramic waste from bricks (perforated brick and double hollow brick) and extruded polystyrene (XPS) waste, is analysed. Results show that it is possible to incorporate up to 25% of ceramic waste and 4% of XPS waste over the weight of gypsum in a gypsum matrix. Furthermore, with the addition of ceramic waste an 8% of surface hardness incre...

The optimum level of nano-wollastonite consumption as fire-retardant in poplar wood (Populus nigra)

Fire-retarding properties of wollastonite nanofibers in poplar wood (Populus nigra) were studied here. Some physical properties such as water absorption, volumetric swelling and anti-swelling efficiency (ASE) were also measured. Specimens were prepared according to the ISO 11925 specifications for the fire-retarding properties and according to the ASTM D4446 -2002 specifications for th...

Fracture Toughness of Wood and Wood Composites during Crack Propagation

The mode I fracture toughness as a function of crack length of medium density fiberboard (MDF), particle board (PB), and Douglas-fir (DF) were all measured using a new energy-based method. PB and MDF are examples of composites that develop fiber bridging during crack propagation, which causes their toughness to increase with crack length. Longitudinal cracks in DF also displayed fiber bridging ...

Structure and Properties of Wood/ Polypropylene Composites

Composite wood products have traditionally relied on thermosetting polymers like phenol-formaldehyde and urea-formaldehyde resins as binders. The continuing need to effectively utilize lignocellulosic fiber from lowquality hardwoods and from recycling streams has prompted consideration of new composites based on thermoplastic polymers [ 1,2]. Much of the development effort has focused on commod...
